Bex Arts aka Becky Gouverneur was bought up in rural Buckinghamshire and has a love of all things furry. Her large scale, highly-realistic, quirky charcoal drawings often with stark white backgrounds show a clear influence from her former career as a professional photographer. She tries her very best to juggle creating art work around looking after her two young children at her home in Winslow and most of the time manages it without any disastrous consequences!
Although the majority of her work is commission based, creating work for exhibition gives her cause to explore her local area with her camera, meet new people and have fun all under the vague guise of it being “work”.
Her vast and varied career includes eight years as a professional photographer, five years as a police officer, two years living abroad in the Netherlands where she married and acquired her unpronounceable surname, then after dragging her family back to the UK she retrained as an art teacher and worked in several schools across Bucks. After a family tragedy she decided to focus on her true love which is, and always has been drawing.
After only a relatively short time in her artistic field she has acquired a number of repeat patrons, has exhibited with a number of art societies & at Bucks Open Studios and has amassed a large following on social media.
